The Story of How It All Started ?
Hi, I’m Cosima Efron, the creator and voice behind Interior Design Inspo — and if you’ve ever stared at a blank wall wondering what to do with it, trust me, you’re not alone.
My love for interior spaces started in a tiny studio apartment in Portland, Oregon, where I grew up surrounded by hand-me-down furniture, dollar-store finds, and a wild imagination.
I didn’t have a lot, but I had this deep desire to make every corner feel special — with washi tape borders, DIY wall art, and pillows I stitched myself (badly, at first).
My room wasn’t perfect, but it felt like me — and that’s when I realized how powerful design can be. It’s not about money or big spaces. It’s about creating a place that feels like home.
Turning Passion Into Purpose
After high school, I decided to take my love for design seriously. I enrolled at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Georgia, one of the top design schools in the U.S.
There, I studied Interior Architecture and discovered how color, lighting, and layout could completely transform a space — and even change the way people feel inside it.
While studying, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at Studio McGee in Salt Lake City. I worked alongside some of the most creative and talented designers in the field, learning what it really takes to create a space that feels timeless and personal.
But one thing kept bothering me — so much of the design world felt out of reach.
Too expensive. Too complicated. Too perfect.
And that didn’t sit right with me.
Because real people live in real homes — with kids, roommates, pets, messes, and budgets.
Not everyone can afford a designer or start from scratch. But everyone deserves a home they love.
